The International Music Score Library Project is free online collection of scores that spans the works of all major composers, plus those of many lesser-knows composers. The scores are royalty-free since they are in the public domain. U.S. citizens have access to scores published before 1923, Canadians, scores published over 50 years ago.
The IMSLP does not charge any fee to access the scores and depends on its users to contribute scores to the cause. Those wishing to contribute need only to scan their old scores and then submit them to the IMSLP web site via a PDF file. Overall, this is a great resource for piano teachers since the pieces are printable, down-loadable, and e-mailable.

Ludwig Van Beethoven
For years, scholars have generally agreed that Therese Malfatti was the intended namesake for Beethoven’s famous “Fur Elise.” After all, Beethoven had proposed to her, and the piece had supposedly later been found in possession of her estate.
Dw-world.de reports that musicologist Klaus Martin Kopitz has a different theory. He claims that Beethoven composed the famous piece for Elisabeth Roeckel, a woman with whom he had a fairly close friendship.
